I’m living for the descriptions and anecdotes. This is such a beautifully written book that gives amazing information on Christmas in 1820s England.

I’m not as intrigued by the third and fourth essays as I was with the first two. I will say they are interesting, however, my favourite essays of this collection so far are ‘Christmas’ and ‘The stage-coach’. We’ll see what I think of the last essay when I write my review.
