Four believes that we need to grasp life tightly instead of just walking where the wind blows. "As much as I dislike the Mogs, they have a purpose on Earth, while we do not hide where the wind does not blow.(23)" As you can see Four believes in life with a purpose and we shouldn't live trailing after probability. We should not follow the wind and life as is not purely living, but it is believing in a strong purpose.

Those who kill solely for victory and glory are only as good as the prey they pounce on. "A Mogadorian held me up by the throat and raised his sword. I felt no fear, I felt no regrets, but I felt pity. (74)" He felt pity for the Mogadorians because he feels that when the Lorics are killed, they will turn on each other in pursuit for power over the resource. This book shows power will turn a man against his own will.
