Now the book has been tense since page 1 but shit's about to get even more tense, serious and gloomy!!!!
In many ways this is a gothic romance and it's a nonstop trainwreck. Reminds me of Bledding Sorrow which was glorious.

The result is actually much more readable than I thought it would be (I figured I'd have to wing it with my French and Latin). Sometimes the machine is confused about he/she/it and implied pronouns. I actually fiddled with the document a little today and the prologue needed hardly any tweaking done (I compared the English translation to the Italian original and with the "bad" translation I could actually follow the original text). Maybe if I really have time once I'm done with my thesis I'll edit the machine translation and send it to Nina so she can publish that. I know so many are looking to read Capitan Swing and the beginning is so, so good.

So far I only read the first 15 pages, which I thought set up the tone/direction of the story nicely. I think this will be an absolute H-Bomb of a book, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. I was like: dang, this is going to get dark and messy real quick, isn't it?
After reading the prologue, I edited parts of it (I couldn't help myself! They seemed like easy edits to make but of course that took nearly as long as copy-pasting it into the translator).
I was surprised that Nina's writing style, which isn't purple and over the top but rather understated and sparse, actually did not suffer too much under the low-budget translation. Obviously some passages make you go "huh?" but back when I had to translate Latin passages the results were way less clear (maybe because the sentences were convoluted musings of old rich men idk).
