"On a 1-1 count the hitter smacked a high fly deep to right. Gary got a good jump on it, took the perfect route to the ball, and, miracle of miracles, reached out and grabbed it one-handed to end the game!¨ (119) This shows how happy the team is.

One trait to describe Derek's sister, Sharlee, is cheerful because on page 40, Sharlee and her best friend and current T-ball teammate, Ciara, announced to the Jeter's dinner table that they both hit home runs. On page 40, Ciara said, "We both hit home runs!" The two then high-fived. "Yessss!" Sharlee cried. "We already won our first two games, and we're never gonna lose, ever!" This shows how cheerful Sharlee is.

One trait to describe Derek is annoyed because on page 22, Derek´s dad and him were talking about Gary and was wondering why he is even on his team. On page 24, Derek says ¨You don´t know Gary,¨ he said miserably. ¨Gary? Isn´t he your friend from school?¨ Friend? More like worst enemy.¨

One trait to describe Derek is appreciative because on the first page, Derek found out the news that his dad was going to coach his baseball team and he was extremely excited. "I can't believe it. My dream is finally coming true!" Derek said. "Thanks for doing this, Dad. I know how busy you are, but I am reeeeally happy you're coaching our team." This shows how appreciative and grateful Derek is.
