In case I forgot to put it in the review, I want to than the publisher, ROC, for creating great original art covers for every book in the series. So many publishers are using barely edited stock photography now. Sure, Joey should have a bigger nose, but that's not really relevant compared to detailed covers that accurately represent scenes from the stories and create interest in the book.

After 6 books & 9 years (char yrs) they finally address Marel's teleporting. Wouldn't you be curious if your kid could do that?

I've never bought this whole "Reever never learned human emotions" thing. Every other species they've encountered has emotions. Most very similar to humans. So why's he a cold bastard?

Trying not to spoil for friends who haven't read the earlier books but might someday. But interesting interpersonal issues arise with Reever, Xonea, even Squid Lips.

Yes, I really love the original art over the stock photography. I mean, that's art too and requires work, no doubt. But this is something else altogether. :D

I know that original art is expensive, but I hate when the cover model doesn't resemble the character at all. If they go cheap they should at least be somewhat accurate. It feels disrespectful to the readers, as if somehow we won't notice that they couldn't be bothered.
