Logging in after barely reading for a few months and being 27 books behind schedule... After seven years of 100 books/year, I might have to finally throw in the towel and reduce my ambitions somewhat.

What’s slowed you down?! Now I’m teaching, I struggle to read and review half as much as I used to.

I too have struggled to read as much as I used to this year, though that is largely because I spend a lot of my free time with my new girlfriend :).

I’ve had a similar 2021. Seen it coming though so chopped my reading goal from around 100 to 50. I still might miss it! Been that sort of year. I’m so out of the reading groove. I think I need to find a new epic fantasy series that sucks me in to get my love for reading back. Seems like years since I’ve found a new favourite series.

Sorry, missed this while on holiday, Gavin. Weirdly (or perhaps not), I do find it easier to read when I'm in rural Norway than in London. But overall, we might just be getting older and struggling to find something to compare to nostalgic memories of old favourites?
Cutting my reading goal to 50 definitely helped in the end, so I did it again for 2022. It's all just a self-pat on the back anyway, so why not make it easier to accomplish?
So true about the reading challenge. The real reason I love taking part in it is because it provides a helpful place to view all the books I’ve read in a given year! You might be right about the nostalgia tainting our ability to enjoy new stuff. Who knew reading a lot could turn out to be a bad thing!
