Inspired to get back on the Malazan train since the wife started reading the main series.

Very interesting so far!

Absolutely stunning. Glad I chose this as the last big read of 2024.

Reading through some Norwegian cultural heritage in between the -10c cross country skiing sessions

The major twist really felt like it required plot hole levels of idiocy from the good guys.

It is certainly not often I am so on top of new releases!

I've really only appreciated a grand total of one of the four Discworld novels I've read thus far. Just enough to keep trying.

Finally picked this up again and have no idea what drove me to put it down.

Dear me, this is quite possibly the best book in the series.

Logging in after barely reading for a few months and being 27 books behind schedule... After seven years of 100 books/year, I might have to finally throw in the towel and reduce my ambitions somewhat.

And so the end approaches. It's been ten years since I read the first book.

Been enjoying this one in the sun on the balcony with glasses of sangria, which feels like it somehow quite fits good old Magnus the Red. Maybe I'll start making drink pairings for all the Primarchs..

After eight years here, I just now discovered Goodreads allows one the option to only allow friends to comment on reviews; what an incredibly liberating feeling!

Apologies ahead of time to the strangers who occasionally leave genuinely lovely comments (please do send a friend request if you want to engage); I just cannot relinquish this chance to vanquish the gremlins lurking in the dark corners of social media.

This is actually a wonderful concept. Waking prematurely from a 600-year intergalactic journey in stasis to find that passengers are mysteriously dying.

South, they said, and followed the trail into tropical seas.

The journey begins! As a vehement retcon skeptic, the preface left me with some deep concerns, but I am clinging to hope that nothing important is retconned...

I feel at home. All I need is a roaring fire and more snow outside. Can't believe I waited four years since I read the last book.

It began with three ships.

Uhtred, old friend. I return at last.

Game book problems: providing surprisingly solid background information that just serves to make me annoyed the in-game backstory was severely under-developed.

Honestly perplexed at the low average rating. This is perhaps the best book in the series that I've read so far.

After two chapters, this is already my favourite Mieville. Cool vibes, man.

This is great stuff.

I can see why this is many people's favourite Black Library book, but I'm struggling to get invested in the characters. Perhaps with the exception of Grammaticus.

The Horus Heresy novels have all been very different from each other recently. Refreshing.

Ahh, Isstvan III. We're caught up

I'd totally forgotten how shockingly good these books can be.

Very interesting on a conceptual level, but I'm having a hard time being invested in the plot. Hoping it picks up!
