"Notes on the Writing of Horror: A Story": In this short story a horror author is struggling to actualize a plot he has come up with. He tells us of different possible styles he could write it in but then the autobiographical nature of the story is revealed in a shocking way. Probably one of the best short stories I've ever read.

"The Nyctalops Trilogy": A trilogy consisting of the short stories "The Chymist", "Drink to Me Only with Labyrinthine Eyes" and "Eye of The Lynx". The first story is of a raving chemist speaking to a woman in a bar who becomes a test subject. The second story is of a hypnotist and his beguiling terminally  sonambulised assistant. The final story features a man who seeks a new victim to interface with.

Alice's Last Adventure: an aging children's author is haunted by addiction and fiction in equal measure

Dream of a Manikin: a psychologist has a baffling session with a woman who tells him of an elaborate dream, after which she becomes an enigma with an odd personal relevance to the narrator
