A deep dive into the city's history that explores the shift towards corporatism in the history of capitalism, and all of its downstream effects. What struck me most was the way that this dominant theme connected to queer history - as economic power became more concentrated, homophobia and transphobia emerged to pin the declining agency of middle-class men on the "overcivilized" femininity of trans women and gay men.
