Just finished a fascinating section about earthquakes, volcanoes, and plate tectonics. Yellowstone National Park is over a very active supervolcano- and I may never go there again!

I could read about Darwin for days at a time without getting bored.

I'm baffled that Pluto is only 0.005 of the way to the end of the galaxy and that we are even capable of knowing that. I'm also enjoying reading of scientists that are so famous now (Newton, Halley, etc) and how they were connected to one another.

Paul Perry to be fair, if it goes off jut being on the same continent isn't a great idea...

Kate So I read. It is unsettling to think that as a teenager on family vacation I walked around Yellowstone completely clueless, as most visitors probably do. I am now able to appreciate it more.

Paul Perry i find it best not to worry about the awesome power of nature; i don't think i'd ever get out of bed!

Kate Definitely! There is nothing we can do to stop it, so best not worry about. But the power of nature, and how little we know, is astounding.

Paul Perry oh, it is. and i think Bryson is superb at communicating his wonder. that is a very good book!
