Dang. I’ve only read one of the picks for best books in the romance category for the GR 2021 Choice Awards. I need to get over this weird prejudice I’ve built about the cutesy illustrated covers being just about the hype because they’re all like that! Though if I’m completely honest, I haven’t really been on board with the winners the last few years. 🙈

Agree! Every time I give romance books with those covers a chance, I’m left disappointed! I’ve read three of these 2021 picks and I was not impressed enough with any of them for them to be on the “best choice” of the year list.

I'm right there w/ya on the cheesy illustrated covers being a huge turn-off. If I'm going to read smutty books, I want adult looking covers otherwise I'm just going to keep on scrolling. Also I strongly suspect the GR awards are fixed.
