Marty Beaudet’s Reviews > Forty Words for Sorrow > Status Update

I've finally gotten into this story, but had to skip a chapter with torture in it. Unlike most mysteries, you already know "whodunnit" in this one. You just have to wait for the protagonist to figure it out, so it's a bit anticlimactic.

Writing is good, but plot is off the shelf so far; a male and female detective on the trail of a child-killer. Seen it a million times.

A slow burn. It's as much about the personal issues of the detective as it is about the unsolved murders.
