I think part of the problem may be that it's too dense. There's too many characters. Like this Aaron guy? Who is he? And if he doesn't have any Will, why does he live in Ascension City? Etc., etc.

I can easily read a short book in a day. It says a lot that I still haven't finished this one. I'm glad I borrowed, and not bought it. The concepts are interesting, but I just don't care about Declan. Maybe part of it is his voice doesn't seem consistent. I dunno. Can't even quite put a finger on it....

No pun intended, but reading this book feels like diving straight into the middle of a series. There's a complex and interesting world here, but half the time I'm not 100% sure what's going on entirely. I feel like I'm treading water or something. It's also obnoxious how small the font is; I have to make it "huge" to make it the size I'd normally read in.
