It's fun to re-read this a few years later with some 'fresh eyes' so to speak - I long hated HP for arbitrary reasons related to myself being an ass, so I think i was looking at it through those goggles for many years. It's better than I remember - hah!

It's at once exactly what I expected, more than what I expected, and less than what I expected. It's well written, albeit a bit childish - then again, it's a YA book, so I should be judging it as such. I enjoy it so far, though it's a bit on the basic side - I feel like Hogwarts is barely described at all.
