Strange story with an odd twist. What is intended as a duel ends up as murder.

The Red Moon of Meru is ostensibly a story about the theft of a ruby and it’s recovery. I believe Chesterton is trying to show the difference between the the validity of Western religion (i.e., Catholicism) and Eastern religion(s). What Chesterton doesn’t understand is that the same argument can be made of any and all religions wherever they are found or make their home.

In “The Worst Crime in the World” Chesterton tells a story of a murder that is interesting but one that does not have a satisfying ending. How is the son to explain the father’s disappearance and marry the woman that he loves. Further, why have the castle’s servants not noticed the missing piece of armour but Father Brown has?

The Vanishing of Vaudrey is another good story and another satisfying ending. Chesterton is clever at putting so much into so few pages.

A great story regarding the actor and the alibi. Complicated but, in the end, quite simple.

A very good story despite the number of people in it.
