The Eye of the World is mostly plot driven, as a character called the Dark One (the ultimate antagonist), takes an interest in a group of human boys, one being Rand. This becomes the problem, and the rest of the book involves running away from the Dark One, and having skirmishes with his allies along the way. At this point, the characters are simply trying to escape, but the end goal is likely defeating the Dark One.
