It is important to realize that character, convictions, honor, virtues, and integrity are not necessarily absent from those who come upon hard times or desperate situations. Financial poverty does not necessarily cause character bankruptcy.

"Seeping into his mind was a vision of her in his arms on the balcony of his London flat. She adored the view, she'd said, then focused those beautiful, dark eyes on his and kissed him. Ouch. This hurt. Immediately he turned his back on the view and the memories and returned to the kitchen.
"Those thoughts stole his contentment."
