Writing is good so far, nice.

It's dragging on. The interactions at first were quirky, now mainly annoying.
There's a love triangle in the making... The plot is decently interesting still. The translation appears to have taken a hit for the worse.

Hm. Now that things are converging there have been several instances of dialogues where each character's thoughts and emotions are explained, throwing a fixed POV out of the window.
It's an interesting idea since alien mannerism isn't at all obvious to all characters so things might be missed. But laying bare all intentions isn't good for storytelling, I hope this doesn't become the norm.

Yay, space battles!
Having introduced all races and characters the story is well underway now.
It's the cultures and interactions of these races and characters that are most fun. The story in itself is a jumble of first-contact protocols and the seemingly fragile state of the alliance between the races.
Only Nopileos and Elena Kho are reasonably likable and have the most agency.

I'm enjoying it! The cringey romance is gone and the twist on the first contact story is very nice.
I'm really liking the Teladi plot, they're a wonderful culture/species.
I don't like the main characters being so incredibly well-off, top of their class and near-flawless.

It's alright. I don't care a fig for the cringey romance and a lot of the dialogue is unnatural but the storytelling is nice and I like the Teladi segments.
Side note: the first ebook reading on Epub reader, a big step up from the standard ibook nonsense.
