I'm still loving this, perfect bedtime reading. Laughed uncontrollably over the visit to the dental hygienist. I've had all those same thoughts in the past.

Damm it Diane, I'm in. You've sold it. I've been a fan of Lucy Ellmann for a long time now (and her Dad) so that's my next big read.

I'm taking it slowly Dave, only reading at bedtime, but being in this woman's head is quite an experience. Who is her Dad, by the way?
Dear Diane, I don't want to worry you but your presentiment about possible withdrawal symptoms might be true -- I had exactly the same problem when I finished Ducks, Newburyport! Just like you, I loved it and still feel a nostalgic lack of it plus an urge to reread it. If I were ever asked to choose one title for a stay on a desert island, I might go for Lucy Ellmann's novel. 😀 I had a reading slump after Ducks, Newburyport, nothing seemed good compared to this book. I think a good idea would be to prepare in advance a few engrossing, immersive reads, completely different from Ellmann's writing style. I wish I had done that then. Happy reading of the last part!
