FORCED DRAMA!

BOO! Now that subplot was EVEN MORE POINTLESS!

It seems like every page, the narration describes Trey or Charles as "[the other one's] friend." Burly Detective Syndrome aside, we get it, they had character development before anything important happened to prompt it.

And the whole Tipsbury arc turns out to be a shaggy dog story, just like I expected. Bah.

We're clearly supposed to see it as a triumph for Martin, but like...if you had just knocked your homicidal-and-probably-possessed daughter out and tied her up hours ago, you'd still be alive now.

"We need to help you. You know that, don't you? You know that you need help?"
*evil laugh* "Kill you? And why would I want to do that, Martin?"

He didn't say anything about you wanting to kill him. The editor just like, ignored this whole subplot, didn't s/he?

I'm confused, both about why Alexa wants to go into the tower so badly and also why she can't. If it's to keep her from Gwendolin...I mean, they know she's outside now. Shouldn't Tom want to send her into the tower, then?

"It saddened him, knowing that no matter how many times they had seen him like this before, the reaction they were showing now would always be the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes as a werewolf."

Okay, but why? He's a werewolf. I feel like this would stop being a big deal after the first couple of times. They have a slug monster working at their company.

"Despite the very short time that Lucien had been directly involved in his life[...]he couldn't face this world of nightmares unless he had Lucien to steer him through it."

Lampshading it was a nice try, but the fact remains, he's been steering through it for five months after knowing Lucien for, like, MAYBE five days? I think it was more like three or four.

The fact that Trey apparently has a tier list for different types of rain shows more personality than anything else about him.

Wouldn't this infodump make more sense coming from Tom?
