A rambling book about the history of Australian 'food racism', which the author defines as prejudice against Indigenous Australian foods, & the ways food racism is being overcome. Although the book's divided into chapters, they don't appear to advance an overarching thesis, nor to be about anything specific. The author relies heavily on the scholarship of Bill Gammage & the disreputable Bruce Pascoe.

The author quotes European settlers' diaries, reports, poetry, etc., which appear to show a near-total ignorance of Indigenous land management & disregard for Indigenous foods. One consequence of this ignorance & disdain is the Australian public's indifference about our native foods which, until fairly recently, was transparently due to racism (Les Hiddins, The Bush Tucker Man, apparently privately hated tucker).
