I’m having a hard time enjoying this one. The dual timelines feel clunky and the author seems determined to hit the reader over the head with her intended social commentary. Reba is a hollow construct of a character, as are most of the characters in her storyline.
If I wasn’t reading this for book club, I would probably have given up by now. Here’s hoping it redeems itself by the end of the novel.
