Sebastien is making life difficult for anyone who isn't supporting his cause. Jace and Clary must be careful because not only are their friends and family in danger, but they themselves are in danger. This is not just with Sebastien but with the powers they both possess. Also, one needs to be very careful in who they consider allies. You never know when you will be turned against.
