Really great. I rlly liked the crying vs patient baby metaphor for getting attention/action. Bangers all around in this for both the essay and the speech from 1918. Nice to read an actually good feminism book (the two I read last year were… disappointing). Really juicy - covers a lot in such a small page count. To think I only bought this just to up my order for free shipping hahhaa

Also can I just say how fucking annoying it was when professors greeted the class saying “Hello Gentlemen” “Good morning/afternoon gentleman” “Please be quiet gentlemen”
UM???? I know this is electrical engineering and that we have some of the fewest women enrolments but STILL… don’t rub it IN
Most would realise after the first couple weeks and change but still it was wild for the mid-late 2010s

I’m guessing every woman has experienced some of this. For me it was at uni and work where even 10% would have felt like a lot. I remember when I was in first year of uni and it took a friend 5 weeks to notice that I was the only girl in our class (a class of maybe 40 btw). I was just like!!?!!??? Really?!!!!? You just noticed?!!?!!? But norms blind us I guess

I actually started this 2 weeks ago when doing that 15 min observation after my booster shot (this is a very portable book).
Liking it a lot so far. Especially this section talking about how a room of 30% women can feel like it’s equal and both men and women might notice it - and how it’s influenced not just by our presence in these spaces but representation of women in media. Gunna cont in next update…
