oh, man. this victory with a loss ending is looking worse and worse. generally Harry manages to get the goal (and survive) while the bad guy loses yet survives and also, somehow wins something, but in light of page 220, the wins "something" could be extra terrible. like winning two somethings.....

I love to see my favorite peripheral character in action, and it's great to see a character grow... but please be nice, Jim! don't kill him! (Can this book possibly end with anything less than a painful next book picks up five minutes after this one? oh, I surely hope not).

that little dilemma solved, butcher ends with a sort of cliffhanger. we know there is a plan, but we'll have to hear about it as it unfolds... in the next chapter.
