I enjoyed the first part of the book set in occupied France during WW1. We learn the story behind the painting which Sophie's husband painted of her called the same as the name of this book.

When the book jumped to modern time, it started to drag. The heroine seems whiney and selfish. But I do look forward to hopefully finding out if Sophie finds her husband and how the trial turns out.
