'In my head in the dark. I'd look up at the ceiling and imagine it was the storyboard of my own life. All I had to do was write the words. Make my mind bend and twist to get them right and it would all be there, waiting. Etched above me in a cloud that would follow me wherever I went. With stories I can fill the dark bits of life. I can paint in things that are missing, things that should be there but aren't.'
