it’s really fun and cool that the more i read and watch about histories of representation in media the more i realize that attitudes towards it have not fundamentally changed in any meaningful way in decades and that we are never going to get past the “demanding ‘good’ representation while condemning anything that’s darker/more challenging/etc” thing (i hate it here)
