Well, the sequel to MARK COOPER VERSUS AMERICA will NOT be called BRANDON MILLS VERSUS VIRGINITY. Because apparently Amazon will automatically bounce your book if it has the V-word in the title.

So, fuck you, Amazon, for being the morality police nobody asked for, and because now we have to think of something else.

I LOVED that title.

Kristie Sonofabitch. Seriously? That's fucked up. I'm so sorry.

message 2: by Catherine (new)

Catherine First: I, too, LOVED that title.
Second: The morality police Amazon lets *this* piece of shit past it's censors but the word 'virginity' is taboo?!: http://www.amazon.com/Parents-Guide-P...

*kicks Amazon in the junk*

message 3: by Page (new)

Page Crusherz Maybe you could bill it as a manifesto of Christian ideals? No? :)

message 4: by Catherine (new)

Catherine What I don't understand is that there are plenty of books (and a few DVDs) on Amazon with Virginity in the title, so why is yours that is getting bounced?

Chris, the Dalek King Stupidity meet Amazon, Amazon meet stupidity...oh wait, you are already well acquainted.

message 6: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Merikan Oh that's such a shame! :( It's because apparently any talk of virgins is about underage virgins. My sister had this problem. Her character was 23 and there was nothing unusual about the story, yet because of the 'V-word' her book got banned and she had to jump through hoops to get it back up. Stupid Amazon.

message 7: by Alice (new)

Alice Who can possible be offended by the word virgin?? Amazon is becoming a joke with these restrictions.

message 8: by Julio (new)

Julio Genao sorry, lisa.

Lisa Henry Thanks, everyone!

@Catherine. The word from the publisher is that it's not even worth trying to get it past them.

@KA, Yeah, I figured it was something to do with their crackdown on smut, when, really, if everyone's over 18, what does it matter if you use the word "virgin" in the title or not?

It's just annoying, because, you know, it's a book about a 19 year old college boy who takes a big step and decides he's going to be in a relationship. And he's completely panicking about having sex.

Nenia Campbell Really? You can't have the word virgin in your title?

What about Vegan, Virgin, Valentine

and

Virgin

????

message 18: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Henry Nenia wrote: "Really? You can't have the word virgin in your title?

Maybe it's because neither of those books are marketed as erotic romance? I have no idea. I mean, it's definitely not a rule that's enforced in any uniform way.

message 19: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell VIRGIN is an erotic new adult book (that embraces feminist values)!

That's ridiculous. It's okay to write a romance with "slut" in the title but not "virgin"? -_-

message 20: by Heller (new)

Heller That is a cherry title. ;) That's frustrating and tremendously annoying of Amazon.

How about "the V card"? :D

Fifth base! Fuck me in the ass because I love Jesus. Sodomy not a sin if you're straight. I am laughing.. I'm crying... But most of all I'm really happy that people put the time and effort to do these videos because dammit, humor is a great form of social commentary.

Vivian Right, Katie? Stick the knife in while they're laughing :)

message 27: by Camy (new)

Camy ...and now the chorus is stuck in my head. I just know I'll sing "fuck me in the ass" at some highly inappropriate time too.

Marte - Thunderella *snort*

That is just ridiculous!

Amazon: "Let's ban virginity!", in our fight against smut.

Ehm...duh!

*rolls eyes*

*shrugs* It's okay. I've moved on from rage to generally annoyed acceptance. We'll call it something else. It's just annoying because damn, it was a good title. But mostly because there's no recourse.

What Amazon wants, Amazon gets.

Not at all! Just like they're on a crusade against smut, but still selling a gazillion copies of Fifty Shades every day.

Because reasons.

It's quite terrifying that some people actually think like that.

message 40: by Deanna (new)

Deanna No logic at Amazon. Virgin has never been a bad word. Censorship has no place in our lives unless it is "self-censorship". If I do not like what you write or say or print, I just ignore it like I ignore Fox News.

Marte - Thunderella ⚣ Marco wrote: "What if you use "maidenhood" instead of "virginity"? Or "celibacy"?"

Hehe, "knighthood" in this case, eh?

Celibacy means something else doesn't it? That's abstaining from sex of your own free will. Whilst virginity, well you never had sex so how can you abstaing from it?

Or something. Is it called celibacy if you're a virgin and don't want to have sex?

I'm confused..

If your MC abstains from sex I'm not gonna read your book. :P I want deflowering, not celibacy... LOL!

Thanks, Marte! It's not as wacky (or kinky!) as Mark Cooper because obviously Brandon has issues, but it's very cute, and very sweet!

Not yet. Marco! We're still waiting on getting a yes from the publisher, but that shouldn't be a problem.
