Just read books 2 and 3, and what a mess. The Good: The villains don’t share a common goal and that has fractured them into three camps, Doom is, well Doom, the heroes don’t know or really trust each other and that’s refreshing because the current MCU makes it seem like one giant dysfunctional family, and Spider-Man is, well Spider-Man. The Bad:Heroes moping constantly and the whole Magneto and Janet seduction!

Book 4 had more cohesive and enjoyable moments. Thor gets his moment to shine, but overall this arc is still so disjointed that it’s slightly off putting.

Also, where the hell did the test subjects Titania and Volcana come from? I asked this before the villains did, but there are gaping plot holes in this story so far!

Currently reading them individually and just finished number 1. Considering this arc was a ploy by Mattel to sell Marvel toys to children who liked the terms “secret” and “wars” in their title, the story’s not half bad. This toy line was a direct response to Kenner’s DC Super Powers toy line, and although the toy line wasn’t great, so far the story is.
