That's book 1 down. I like this but the pacing is all over the place. Also,I just want the romance to happen already. Every time it feels like something is happening we get these random quests/mysteries Xie Lian goes to investigate, And every time those get interesting, random side stuff comes up. It's aggravating.

When you've read 20+ chapters but you're only 9% through the story.

This is good. Amusing and different. But I guess mythic stories, particularly fantasy ones tend to have similarities the world over. Pantheistic story lines tend to give the gods human-like emotions and motivations. I am starting to suspect Fu Yao and Nang Yeng are Xie Lian's orginal general in disguise instead of just lackeys of said generals.
