Pierce finds Alainn as Killian and the others arrive at the dock. Killian discovers the bruises and she says the O'Brien beat her for horse theft. They go back and forth trying to find a way to be together, but Alainn does not relent. She is not eating or sleeping, often nauseated and dizzy. She has a vision of all 3 young O'Briens slain on a battlefield and abandons her plan so that she can try to save Killian.

Alainn could not find Teige in the spirit realm, so she is sure he must still be alive somewhere. I suspect he will have to be found and restored before the curse can be broken.

Someone killed Ramla, they think it was the dark priest. The O'Brien awoke with extreme anger and strength, and no one knows where he is. Danhoul is Alainn's magical guardian at the behest of Aine.

I just realized that I have basically just inhaled this book. I have set it down little and just kept going. This book is the battle for Killian and Alainn to be together or not... The ending sets up the next adventure. Killian and Alainn have a beautiful wedding after Killian initially bungled the proposal. Unfortunately, their wedding night is ruined as Alainn is whisked away by Aine.

Siobhan sees the amulet, promises to try to help Alainn about her marriage. Alainn called to Lady O'Rorke. She brings her to consciousness, and she mistakes Alainn for her dead daughter. Family is stunned at resemblance and realizes she is likely Tiege's and the witch's daughter. Without Alainn's amulet to protect her it also cannot calm her powers.

Hugh O'Brien confronts Killian and Alainn with taunts. Killian, enraged, cuts chief and Alainn loses control of her powers stabbing the guards with their swords. Chieftain agrees to let her go free, but realizes she is pregnant.
