Just reached the end of the first part, which explains in scientific detail the reasons why the brain behaves in a certain way (worry, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, etc.) and the next part is going to be more about dealing with the ramifications of the way it works. The first part was pretty dense. Hoping the latter parts will be less so.

Into some of the methods of managing anxiety/panic and the book definitely has some good points. And a huge THANK YOU for explaining WHY exercise is good for anxiety. Usually ppl are just like, "it releases endorphines!" and leave out the part where the panic actually readies your muscles to act & using exercise to do just that can alleviate symptoms of panic.

So far, so good-ish. I'm a smidge frustrated at two bits. First, that they use "he or she" instead of "they," which is particularly annoying because APA uses "they" & encourages others to as well. I know pop sci books don't have to, but it looks bad. Second, they used a woman being afraid of being a lesbian when she's not attracted to women as an example of obsessive thinking. Casual homophobia @ it's finest?
