Clown marionettes are bad, but real clowns are worse. Since time immemorial, humankind’s greatest natural predator has been the clown. Stephen King terrified readers with Pennywise in It (1986), but that was centuries after most mammals had learned to flee in terror at the sound of floppy shoes.

The Voice of the Clown actually has the trifecta of terror going for it. Creepy kid. Creepy doll. Creepy clown.

Coma’s success opened the floodgates for books like The Minotaur Factor, The Theta Syndrome, The Orpheus Process, and The Compton Effect. Suddenly, science was exciting—because scientists wanted you dead.

Medical horror is freaky simply because somewhere in my head I think that maybe that shit could really happen. I go in for an ingrown toenail and come out with horse hooves! Demon horse hooves...

Given the chance, nature will turn on us in a heartbeat. This is one issue on which carnivores and vegetarians must stand united: we must eat nature, or nature will eat us.

The whole genre of horror with animals, insects, & plants doesn't fill me with a sense of dread. But while the stories might not be my bag, they did have some fun covers.

The Succubus is based on the Manacled Mormon, a kidnapping case that rocked London in 1977.

This prompted me to watch the documentary, Tabloid. Worth it.😂

Joe Is this a big coffee table type book with pictures or will it fit easily on a shelf, Anne?

Alexander Peterhans It's a large paperback, Joe. Like half of a coffee table book. Should fit ona shelf, but it is larger than regular paperbacks.

Alexander Peterhans Oh, it's also excellent.

I bought the ebook when it was on sale for a song, so whatever Alex says is (probably) true. ;)
