Just got to the bit where they are 'outside' the bowl and the rotation of the bowl is mentioned as taking 32 hours, so it takes a bit longer for the stars to move than on earth .... But earth is a planet, spinning on its access, not the edge of a bowl completing a compete *orbit* of it's sun in 32 hours
So a bit of calculation, assuming the bowl is 1au in radius gives a tangential velocity of 7700+ kilometres per sec

Continued:Now... I can accept this as they talk about massive velocities if the train car were to be ejected into space...
Until I got thinking further... Say 8000 km/s tangential velocity what would the centripetal force actually be? A quick Google and calculation later give around 420 Newton's... Around 42 times the 'gravity' of earth at the rim of the bowl.... Ouch...
