Ben Franks What do you think of James K.A. Smith?

Jacob Aitken Oh boy. I could talk for a while on that. As a philosopher he is outstanding. I really didn't understand Derrida or Heidegger until I read him (and I had read 500 pages of Heidegger prior).

I first started reading him on Radical Orthodoxy. At the time I was a huge fan of Radical Orthodoxy and John Milbank, so I really didn't get the full force of Smith's critique. I now do.

I don't like him as much per cultural theologian. I think some of his proposals are wacky.
