Why didn't johnny just hurry up and go when he went to go bury jeb? I mean it was his plan. Horse and buggy go faster than feet. Like Why didn't you just take your shot so you din't have to deal with it. Either jackson will learn from his lesson or escape.

Will johnny actually end up escaping? Or will the dark soldiers find out what hes planning and kill him? What good is having johnny captured anyways? I think johnny will end up escapin but not as easy as he thinks it will be.

Why can't johnny just be a good guy and teach private turner how to read? It isn't going to do him any good just teaching him the wrong why and them him figuring it out that he was taught backwards. Plus johnny might still have a good life he just becomes friends with private turner.

Why didn't he just hurry up and stab him with the sword? Johnny should have just listened to his dad and stayed home with his ma or he wouldn't be in this situation. How will he get out of the situation? Will jeb die? Will johnny escape?

Will johnny get out of it? Will he flea from the yankee? Johnny should have just listened to his father, he could be at home just working on the farm right now but no he got captured by a dark skinned yankee. Would he have still got captured if he just had stayed on the trail or would it have been worse and got killed? Will they torture him since they captured him?

Why would johnnys ma let him go to richmond, she knows in her heart its not safe, and I dont blame johnny for trying to go because i would have done the same thing if it was my dad. Ive lost alot of people in my life but I dont think I could ever lose my siblings or my parents.

pa is teaching the kids alot, Almost every minute he has something to give advice on to all the kids. Its almost like hes making sure they know everything that pa has learned. Its like hes saying goodbye. Also I feel like even if pa lived on he'd still be traumatized from the war.

Why didn't johnny go into the war like his dad? How old is johnny? Why did the yankees not detroy everything johnny's family had or look farther for stuff they really wanted? I think johnny will end up going into the war to get back at the yankees for killing his father.
