Ooh, this is nice as a reread. There’s a certain thing that, when it’s revealed, recontextualizes a lot of chapters, so rereading this book and knowing vaguely what that new context is is really cool. All of the seeds are definitely here, the beginning of the book was definitely written with the later reveal in mind.

Unless the ending fails me, this will be a very unexpected star.
I can sense the post-book existential crises coming already.

There is a reason I love audiobooks, and this book is one of those. Julia Whelan is so perfect on this oh my gosh. I have to wonder if I’d be enjoying the author’s writing style nearly as much if it wasn’t for Whelan.
Again I must say, was not expecting to like this book so much??? I keep picking up popular books to see what I think and I’m just, liking all of them. I guess that’s a good thing

This book definitely feels like ~a vibe~ right now. I’m curious to see what actually ends up happening and, if not much does, if I can actually enjoy a book that’s mostly vibes. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book like this (which was the whole point of me picking it up in the first place).
Also, Julia Whelan fits very well as the audiobook narrator. She’s definitely emphasizing the vibey writing style.
