I'm at the 25% mark and 15 year old was generous. Here's a direct quote:I slam my door and lock it. Cranking the volume on my stereo, I blast the music, but it's The Tragically Hip, so it's not angry or aggressive enough. I choose an album with lots of heavy guitar riffs and loud drums. Stomping across my room, I punch the Waters beaver [a stuffed animal], which launches it into the wall. Then I throw myself onto my bed and scream into my pillow like a pissy preteen. I feel better, regardless of how juvenile I am.
This is ridiculous. If I wanted to read this bullshit, I'd have picked up a YA.
You got further then me. I had an almost visceral hatred of this book, all because of Violet, she’s awful.
They're all awful. Like... I'm in train-wreck mode now, I can't look away from the awful. Alex seems to maybe be a decent guy, but the fact that he plays up to the man-whore media label is gross. And all - literally all - of the other hockey players are absolute pigs. And Violet is this disgusting combo of 12 year old in a 22 year old body, and total judgey bitch.
I bailed before Alex was really part of the book. Everyone just seemed so mean and weak. I couldn’t take the slut shaming either.
Yeah, that's what I meant by judgey bitch. Though at least she's not just on the women about it - she slut-shames the men too. I think I couldn't continue on, even in train-wreck mode, if she was having misogynistic double-standards. But she treats her brother like a walking STD, so she's just sex negative across the board. Which is hilarious, given HER OWN actions.

Yeah, it really is. And honestly, I'm at the 33% mark and can't take it anymore. She's so awful. And hypocritical. My tolerance for hypocrisy is really low. She's sex-shaming literally everyone, while at the same time her inner narrative is all about Alex's monster cock (I'm so sick of that phrase,, it has probably been said 100 times so far) and how wet she is, to the point where she's not even paying attention to the conversation. Like, take a look in the mirror, you sex-shaming hypocritical asshole.
