Thoughts after reading issues #4&5:
- I like the way the husband didn’t change his opinion when he saw the variant children.
- Are you kidding me? Those are some hella abrupt deaths there! Nobody saw that coming.
- “There are no grubs, no variants, no civs. There’s only people.” That really reminds me of “Them? Us? They are us!” from Lion King 2 which will forever be one of my fave movies.

Thoughts after reading issues #1-3:
- I absolutely love how excited the husband was to hear his wife was pregnant. That precious man must be cherished! So I hope she doesn’t cheat on him with that other guy.
- That loaded revelation wow.
- I’m in LOVE with the monochromatic colour palettes and the way they’re so effectively used.
- I like that there’s only two kinds of powers they can have. It’s different!

In my opinion the second one is even better than the first one. All the songs are good in the second one whereas the first one only has one or two good songs. The lyrics for the song We Are One are so touching that they’ve stuck with me for years. Also the storyline for the second one is kind of a thinly veiled metaphor for racism so it’s interesting to see how they approach the topic and portray it.
Plus I know he’s technically a lion but I’m not alone in saying that the love interest Kovu is attractive (I’m not into furries or anything, it’s just he has a good character design). The antagonist Zira is much more capable and scarier than Scar and her song My Lullaby is so hardcore she actually sings about murdering Simba!
I hope none of that had the opposite effect of putting you off, it’s still PG rated. It’s great I really recommend the movie, not enough people know about it!
@Annie Oh absolutely, the portrayal of Zira’s parenting vs Simba’s and the way they weren’t so different for a certain part of the movie always delighted me because the movie dabbled more in grey areas rather than the black and white the first lion king movie stuck with. And when you start to think about it more, the way Kovu comes to resemble Scar but ends up different is some great mirroring. It’s really a movie to enjoy and analyse so I love it. I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one who loved it more than the first movie as a kid!

Did you watch Lion king 1/2 first? I like to watch things in order of events.
I actually only ever watched Mulan 2. I don’t even remember it anymore (I was like 5 or something) but I know I’ve never watched the original one.I’ve heard the Cinderella sequel is good. Either the second or the third one I can’t remember it might even be both! I’ve seen some interesting clips and have always wanted to watch them but have never gotten around to it.
Annie is the second Cinderella movie the one about her stepsister? Or is that the third one?I really miss the 2D animation styles of old Disney. All the 3D styles are pretty too but they don’t capture the same spirit. My fave Disney movies in recent times would have to be Tangled, Brave, and Encanto. Encanto is also one of those movies you could spend all day analysing AND every song is great. Brave has one of the best heroines of all Disney movies imo and Tangled has catchy songs and the sweetest romance in Disney imo. Princess and the Frog was fantastic but slept on, doesn’t get enough recognition especially considering Tiana is the only black princess. I haven’t watched Moana, Wreck it Ralph was surprisingly great (the sequel not so much), Frozen was overrated (haven’t watched the sequel), and Inside Out was meh. That’s all my thoughts on Disney that you didn’t ask for😃😂 oh and I’ve been thinking recently that I should watch Epic, my friend really liked it, aaand Turning Red because it looks so hilarious I just keep forgetting to watch it.

Wreck it Ralph is kind of funny, I like Moana, its an interesting story. Turning Red is so cute! And it focuses on mother daughter relationships, friends, growing up and theres a red panda. Its my favorite Disney movie right now besides Encanto.
You can find Lion King 2 on Disney+ or buy the dvd from Amazon or somewhere. Maybe your local library has a copy.I think Wreck it Ralph has the most unpredictable plot of all Disney movies. Everything after the halfway point was unexpected for me. I remember watching it in the cinema and I was like woah this is so good. Plus I loved the games concept, it was so fun.
Hey so if/when you watch Lion King 2 let me know what you thought of it!

Thanks. I have Disney +. Im keeping a list for summer which is soon :) yeah Ill pm you next month after I watch it.
Annie I liked the wreck it Ralph sequel better than the 1st one but thats probably because it was more Penelope centered from what I rember only saw it once.
I just watched the Lion King 2. I was good the parallels [I just want to be king - Simba] then Kovu not wanting to be king. The We are One song is awesome. Rafiki seemed less weird/ random in Lion King 2, his Squash banana song from the first movie was so memorable but in the sequal they seemed to tone his character down a little, not impressed by that.
