This book has multiple story lines in it. Jon Snow and his story will be used. Snow must lead the Night Watch to success, but he has to break precedents to do so. These broken precedents lead to faltering loyalty in his men which leads to instances of rising action. An example of this is when Bowen Marsh, Lord Steward under Jon Snow, openly criticized Snow's decision to open the wall to Wildlings, a broken precedent.
