The most recent thing that happened, was that Will became the new bearer of the subtle knife. And with the subtle knife he seemed broken at first. He has been through so much in the past few days, he couldn't handle it. Then Pantalaimon encouraged him to face his destiny, and know he is training to be the master of the subtle knife.

I predict that Will will become more brotherly and friendly to Lyra. Right now they are helping one another, but constantly arguing and picking on one another. Especially Will, who is a harsh boy. I expect he will change at some point, otherwise the friendship would break up.

The tone of the book is very urgent, often trying to get some task done is the focus of the scene.

When they enter the new world there is a bright flash and golden sparkles, which must symbolize enlightenment of a new world
