Talk about a running start! Within the first ten pages Amelia senses a stalking presence, gets led to a dark garden by Shani, sucker-punched by the demon bride, and witnesses a potentially licentious interaction between Devlin and some buxom bimbo! Stevens isn't giving her readers even the slightest chance to get bored this time around :-)

Hmm, I think Stevens tried to stuff too much into this installment. The unsolved murder of a detective, Shani has latched onto Amelia and asking for help, the Oak Grove job is resurrected (Har har) questions arise about the night of the accident ... the same night that The Prophet was shot in the back. In 260 pages there just isn't enough page space to explore it all. Good stuff, though, for all that!
