Advanced lesson - go tame a dragon. Hope you don't die! Yep, seems a super good strategy to suss out who your advanced students are, and then thrust them into a lethal situation with zero prep. Good way to keep those advanced students alive.
Didn't say it before, but this whole learning advanced spells thing is basically this series' ripoff version of Dumbledore's Army from OotP. Add it to the list of HP ripoffs

Oh, adding Nyx to the coven already was somewhat unexpected. I figured he'd drag it out for another book, like he normally does. Her character 'development' (what passes for development in this series) was incredibly rushed, but it is at least better than the alternative of dragging it out for no good reason.
None of these books have been great, but this is the first one that was truly boring.

Would you look at that - this big bad battle they kept harping on that actually happened sooner than anticipated (so they weren't fully ready) ended without much issue. What a shock! Cole met the villain that was barely introduced, he says some edgy lines at him, and then defeats him handily. Same shit that has happened in every book, basically. None of this fucking matters. I skimmed over most of it; it's boring.

I have less to say about this book than I did the others, simply because it has become boring. It's still bad, but it's no longer surprising. Just a case of things being rushed through and therefore lacking the importance they should have. Like, right now, an elder army is coming to attack. Oh no! But it's only been like 5 fucking days since the last one. And Cole and company win, obviously. So why should I care?

All the girls thinking Cole's scratch wounds are hot and he should keep the scars instead of using magic that could easily heal them is eye-rollingly stupid. It'd be one thing if he got the wounds by like protecting them or something, but no - he just wandered into the forest by himself and got attacked. It's dumb.

They find out that the evil warlock school stole important books. So clearly the best course of action is to send a group of students back to get it. Oh, the headmistress can't see into the school magically, but somehow magically teleporting inside still works without issue. Also they're able to magically teleport out right when they complete the task and are in danger, even though they have no way to communicate.

Cole's braindead obvious plan was 'we need to learn advanced spells!' but they all treated it as if it was a smart and hitherto unheard of plan. But then one class session takes place, he already decides it's not enough, and goes to complain to the headmistress that they're not following his super smart plan to the fullest extent. Very stupid so far.
What the fuck kind of description is 'dusty nipples'?!

They travel to the Wicca High Court, but even though Cole has killed an evil headmaster and elder goddess, they still don't like him, so they force him to fight a beast. After he kills the beast, they suddenly all listen to his plans. Why make him fight the beast, then? Or why did that suddenly make it ok to listen to him? After he outlines the most basic and obvious idea, they go home. Waste of time.

Felt like doing another shorter book, and also felt like doing another one of these. *shrug*
It always amuses me how these books start out with such flowery language, but it slowly subsides before coming to a complete halt eventually. Like you can see him running out of gas and wanting to get the story over with in real-time.
