I've reached the boring part of the book, when Julianne is frightened of Gabriel's BDSM past you'd think he killed someone or something. Remind me again why I like this book so much?
Oh, that's right. Philosophy, a hot sinner and NIN. My curses, my downfall. It's a good thing Gabriel didn't major in Drama, to add theatre to the mix would make my death certain.

"Even while drunk, Professor Emerson was still an ass."

"The strains of music filled the air, and Gabriel realized that the sound was coming from her computer. He saw a CD with a rabbit on it. Gabriel began to wonder why Miss Mitchell was so obsessed with bunnies."

This isn't a comedy book. I know it, you know it, but Reynard has a way of storytelling that, fuck, I adore. The irony is deliciously hilarious.

"Don’t you know not to take candy from strangers, little girl?”
“I suppose it’s all right to accept apples, Gabriel?”
He narrowed his eyes at her non sequitur. He was missing something.

Oh, Gabriel, love...
The beginning of the whole book can be resumed in that last phrase.

[...] he removed a business card from his wallet, picked up his Montblanc fountain pen, and slowly unscrewed the cap.
“Do normal people still use those kinds of pens, or just medievalists?” She leaned over inquisitively. “I’m surprised you’re not using a quill.”
Gabriel frowned. “This is a Meisterstück 149,” he said, as if that should mean something.

okay, so maybe she's not as mousy as I remember. Good.

"Julia hated Nine Inch Nails. She changed the station whenever they came on the radio. If a song of theirs was playing somewhere, she left the room or the building. The sounds of their music and especially Trent Reznor’s voice creeped her the hell out"

For reasons such as this one, and also how mousy she is, you can clearly tell I love this book based mostly (not to say entirely) on Gabriel.

"He looked at her book bag and decided then and there that it had to go. If he had to see that hideous thing one more time, he was going to lose it. And Paul had touched it, which meant that it was polluted. She’d have to throw it away."

Gabriel is such a little bitch. I love him.

“What are we having with the lamb?”
“Couscous!"

Comedy gold. I haven't been able to look at couscous the same ever since I first read this book about uh almost ten ish years ago?

"He felt himself twitch more than once in anticipation and wished that he had a video camera secretly placed in his condo somewhere."

I had such a witty comment on this thought of his and accidentally fucking deleted it. UGH.

"He has a heart, somewhere, underneath everything else. I know, I saw it once."
