I love how this is a book about family just living with life’s struggles and facing them head on while still finding time to love each other. It’s not grandly special, it’s just warm to read.

I liked it a whole lot, but it felt dragged on.

Also Larx certainly has a hero complex. He’s takes on too much, because he wants to heal a broken world. A noble pursuit, but not one he can fix by pulling every kid out of their broken homes and letting them live with his family.

After reading some reviews, I have to agree that this book is busy. Multiple storylines, so many characters - new and old. I think it somewhat reflects like, in that you may not always be afforded the luxury of dealing with problems one at a time. Sometimes multiple issues hit you as once and they are all important. All that to say, I like it, but as the reading there’s no time to breathe between storylines.

Eventually they have to stop taking kids in, they are running out of space trying to house all these children. I’m glad Candace and Shelly went to foster care, it would’ve been unrealistic if they got to stay with Larx as well.

I adore these people, they are so incredible. I love how he loves kids that are not his own like they are his own. And Yoshi and Tane…I’d loved to know their story, they seem like such opposites, but fit together beautifully.

I was a bit annoyed with Olivia at first. But she going through a lot, and I love how Aaron is dealing with her directly and honestly. I thought he’d shy away because he’s the stepdad.
