The reader of this is the same as for Olive Kitteridge so I just imagine all the characters as old-fashioned busybodies like her. I'm not sure that that's on the page? But it's the vibe now.

She’s my favorite narrator! She reads all my favorite quiet authors—Alice Munro, Elizabeth Strout, Anne Tyler. (She’s Lucy Barton, too.)
