This book is ok for the most part. There are interesting questions raised about the place of humans in this constructed future. I’ll hopefully talk about it in my review. I the most profound moment imo(I don’t consider this book very profound) was the conversation about memories and how that does or doesn’t make someone human. Maybe that is obvious but it really hit me in a way I hadn’t thought about before.

I was hoping this would fit into my criteria for African American Science Fiction, so I could include it on my anthology assignment list for my college class. Alas no random romance is making on the list it seems. There is a lot of social commentary adjacent references especially in this near future world, but I don’t think I can make a good enough case for this to be included on my list. Oh well
