I'm still reading this book but I still don't like it! It's mostly third person but doesn't engage me with the characters at all. It's a miserable fairly depressing race through someone's life and the political situation in India. I sort of don't want to give up but I will be pleased to finish it and I won't read more by this author or recommend this one!

This is a weird one. It reads more like a political history of India with a sort of novel bolted on. I want to know what happens but I feel no empathy with the characters and feel that the story is almost secondary and 2-dimensional. It just races through the characters lives with no pause for the reader to catch up. More later when I've either finished or given up!
