Um. Wow. Judgy much? & has this author ever been in an art gallery, or seen old paintings, b/c… incredible works of art, masterpieces - are they considered worth less in her mind if there’s nudity?

I’ve never gotten why “Western” clothing is held up as some sort of ideal (I mean, I do - propaganda and prejudice towards Western traditions degenerating those of other cultures) - mass produced jeans, and t-shirts some minor differentiation in colour and design? It’s practically a uniform. Not to mention formalwear for guys often being black suits pretty much indistinguishable from each other.

Profiles of current-era princesses - About Sikhanyiso (Swaziland):
“Aside from dressing in modern Western clothing” is part of the description for what makes her such a ‘modern’ princess and great role model. Seems kind of bigoted? Clothing styles in most countries, and most eras, would change with time. I’m sure the African countries have their own modern styles - look at Simis’ music videos.

Comparing Disney versions vs. the tales’ origins. For princess & the frog, they only mention the Grimm tale - no mention of it being (loosely) based on a novel (it’s mentioned in the movies’ credits).

They have a chart of who wins out of 2 royals, with no explanation given 4 most of them.
Eventually Q. Eliz. I wins over Pauline Bonaparte, w/ an explanation of “When Elizabeth posed for her portraits, she kept her clothes on”.

“Royal Road to Ruin” - not sure how most of those named were “led to ruin”, honestly. Pauline died (presumably still royal & wealthy) of a normal health problem in her forties. Same for Lucrezia- death in childbirth was fairly common back then. Bathory, maybe, but even she died better treated than those who assisted with her crimes.

“The difficult delivery permanently effected Pauline’s health; for the rest of her life, she insisted on being carried around when the pain was too much for her to walk…”
She was about 17 at this point? And how many people say they wish they could live back in historical times? I’ll pass, thanks.

pretty sure I’ve read a lot of the rumours about Marie Antoinette were untrue and exaggerated as well ; they’re just repeated as true, here.

so far those featured all include the usual group (Tudors, France, Italy, etc.). I think the only outlier so far is Elizabeth Bathory (Hungary), unless you count a few mentions of Greek mythology. Not that they’re not interesting, but it would be nice to hear about someone different for a change.
